at Don Pedro

Saturday,
June 19, 1999 - Lake Don Pedro, CA ....
Nor-Cal's annual Mix Team tournament brought together 40 couples to spend
the day enjoying Lake Don Pedro and all it's amenities. This event is a great
opportunity to expose your significant other to the sport of tournament bass
fishing. The tournament lasts for 6 hours and is followed by a barbecue at one
of the many picnic areas at Don Pedro. And six hours was long enough with the
summer temperatures beginning to rise into the 90's, and the increase in the
weekend traffic that is brought on by those high temperatures. All and all it
was a great day with the fishing, dinner and raffle that followed.
The
team's reported catching fish on everything from topwater to worms as 30 teams
weighed in fish. After the weights were tallied, the team of Chuck & Lynell
Fuller of Denair, CA took the title with a limit of fish that tipped the scales
at 15.04 lbs. The Fuller's reported that their fish came on Bud Bug's and their
bite came in the afternoon. The Fuller's took home $400.00 and 2 plaques for
their finish.
Second
place went to Rick & Jeannie Beller of Hanford, CA. The Bellar's had a 13.18
lb. limit that earned them $300.00. The Bellar's reported that their fish came
on topwater early in the morning and worms later in the morning.
Dennis
& Sheila Winchester finished in 3rd place with a 12.94 lb. limit of fish.
The Winchester's reported that their fish came on ripbaits and worms. For their
day the Winchester's took home $200.00.
Rounding
out the money winners in 4th place, Eugene & Kathy Perry of Merced, CA with
12.72 lbs. and winnings of $170.00. Fifth place went to Rich & Roberta Gray
of Modesto, CA. The Gray's had 12.46 lbs and big fish for the event, a 4.80 lb.
toad that earned them a total of $270.00. Tim & Mary Paes of Turlock, CA
took 6th place with 11.64 lbs. and earnings of $100.00. Seventh place went to
Richard & Darlene Martin of Los Banos, CA with 11.46 lbs and winnings of
$90.00. The last money spot went to Don & Jutta Mutchler of Modesto, CA with
11.44 lbs. The Mutchler's took home $80.00.
Nor-Cal
also qualified 3 more Stratos Boats for the World Championship Regional. The 3
slots were filled by Lendall Caldwell of Clovis, CA, Tom Reynolds of Modesto, CA
and Sharon DeVries of Oakdale, CA. Congratulations to the 3 lucky teams on their
way to the Regional. The next qualifying event will take place at the Stratos
Boat Owners Tournament on September 11, 1999 on Lake Don Pedro.
