& Larry Goates Take Nor-Cal Open Team
at Don Pedro

May 12,2000 - Lake Don Pedro, CA .... Nor-Cal Bass held their first of three
open team tournaments for the 2000 season. The event took place at Lake Don
Pedro and drew 88 anglers to compete for the nearly $5000 in prize money to be
awarded at the end of the day. The tournament anglers brought a total of 190
bass to the scales that weighed in at 408 lbs.
First
place for the event went to the team of Alvin & Larry Goates, of Modesto,
CA. The Goates‚ brought in a 6 fish limit that tipped the scales at 17.14 lbs.
The team keyed on rock in 8-15 feet of water with Morgan Worms that they were
splitshotting. Alvin & Larry took home $1,770 for their great day on the
water.
Troy
Wells Sr. and Troy Wells Jr., of Ceres, CA took 2nd place with a 16.50 lb. 6
fish limit. The Wells’ reported that they caught their early fish on flukes
and then switched to worms and jigs in the afternoon. The team went on to say
that they fished the main lake in water from 1-20 feet. Troy Sr. and Jr. took
home $1,018.
Third
place went to Bob Crume and Paul Opela Jr., of Modesto, CA. Crume and Opela
brought in a 6 fish limit that weighed 15.52 lbs. The team reported catching
their fish splitshotting Fishin Musician Worms on rock and wood in 15 feet of
water. Bob and Paul took home $812.
Rounding
out the money winners in 4th place was Tim Wells and Keith Mina with 15.10 lbs.
and earnings of $620. Fifth place went to Loren Giroux and Danny Crow with 14.98
lbs, taking home $250. Brian Whitear and Vince Bowers finished 6th with 14.68
lbs. and earnings of $170. Seventh place went to Jerl Young and Jim Slate with
14.44 lbs., winning $140. The last money spot went to 8th place finishers
Richard and Darlene Martin with 14.36 lbs. The Martins took home $120.
This
tournament, as well as all our team events are qualifiers for the
Stratos/Javelin World Championship Regional, which will take place in the Spring
of 2001 at Clear Lake. Nor-Cal Bass will qualify 4 teams from each of our team
tournaments to this prestigious event. We are proud to announce that this event
will send Bob Crume, of Modesto, CA, Tim Wells, of Clovis, CA, Don Moorman, of
Modesto, CA and Norval Pimentel, of Modesto, CA to the Stratos Javelin Regional
where they will compete for a 1st place prize of $15,000. Congratulations to all
that have qualified.

20th marks the 5th stop on our Pro-Am Tournament Trail at the California Delta.
Check-in will be from 3:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. at Big Break Marina. Visit our web

will be our annual Open Team Night Tournament at Lake Don Pedro. Check-in will
start at 5:00 p.m. This event will also send four more boats to the
