The Nor-Cal Bass annual open team night tournament brought together 63 teams from as far away as Missouri. Weather conditions had changed drastically during the week as the high during midweek was 105, but by the weekend daytime temperatures were in the low 80’s. This was evident at the 7:00 a.m. weigh-in as many of the competitors where in their cold weather suits due to the chilly nighttime temps.

The huge Don Pedro bass that have been hard to find much of this year made an impressive reappearance during the tournament. Six fish over 9 lbs were brought to the scales with the largest weighing 13.64 lbs. Many of the anglers reported a wide-open bite with 40 of the 63 teams bringing in 6 fish limits. The team took home $2,205 for their great night on the water.

Second place went to Don & Tom Longton, of Atwater, CA. The team brought 6 fish to the scales that weighed 24.82 lbs. The pair also weighed in an 11.30 lb. toad that sealed their 2nd place finish. The team fished several areas on the lake and all of their fish were caught on California Custom Worms in less then 6 feet of water. The Longton’s took home $1,194 for their night.

Rick Rush and Todd Hager, of Modesto, CA, finished 3rd with their 24.04 lb. 6 fish limit. Rush and Hager also had the events big fish, an impressive 13.64 lb. beauty that topped several awesome fish that were weighed in. The team fished main lake island tops in water 3-20 feet deep and all their fish were caught on topwater, jigs and worms. The big fish came on a 10” Power Worm. The pair took home $1,196 for an incredible night.
