From a reported
wide open bite just a couple of weeks ago, Nor-Cal anglers arrived to a
drastically tougher bite for their 4th event of the season. The lake had risen
several feet leading up to the event and the colder incoming water had the
surface temperature fluctuating like a yoyo daily. This left any bass thinking
about spawning in limbo. The bite remained tough for big fish on tournament day,
but it did improve slightly for numbers and the top finishing anglers took
advantage of the opportunity.
First place went
to Valley Springs pro Jason Remmers and his partner James Ford of Modesto. The pair
brought in a five fish limit that tipped the scales at 13.42-pounds.
The anglers weight was anchored Remmers 3.48-pound lunker that took big fish in
the pro division. Remmers took home $866
while Ford earned $511.
Oakdale pro Rudy
Linn and partner Dick Marchini of Le Grand finished in 2nd place. Linn and
Marchini weighed in a five-fish limit that
tipped the scales at 11.38-pounds. Linn earned $310 while
Marchini took home $339.
Merced pro
Jim Moulton and partner Jeff Slater of Denair finished in 3rd place with their
five-fish limit that tipped the scales at 11.22-pounds. Moulton took home $204
in option money.
Big fish in the am
division and for the event went to Atwater angler Terry Kleingartner.
Kleingartner's 4.26-pound toad netted the angler $110.
