The bite at Don
Pedro has left much to be desired the past several months. Although the lake is
still fishing tough, the bite is getting better and the big fish are starting
their annual migration into the shallows. The monster bass of Don Pedro are
starting to show themselves as evidenced by the Nor-Cal weigh-in, which saw five
fish over seven pounds cross the scales with the largest topping 13-pounds. The
monster bass are being caught on swimbaits and bed fishing while the majority of
all fish are coming on jigs and worms in less the 20 feet of water.
First place went
to Riverbank pro Jeff Frey and his partner Jim Adair of San Ramon. The pair
brought in a five fish limit that tipped the scales at a whopping 24.96-pounds.
The anglers weight was anchored Frey's 10.40-pound toad. Frey took home $1,015
while Adair earned $605.
Merced pro Jim
Moulton and partner Jeff Slater of Denair finished in 2nd place.
Moulton and Slater weighed in a five-fish limit that
tipped the scales at 23.88-pounds. The pairs weight was anchored by Moulton's
monster bass that tipped the scales at 13.08-pounds. Moulton earned $770 while
Slater took home $135.
La Grange pro
Robert Mansor and partner James Ford of Modesto finished in 3rd place with their
five-fish limit that tipped the scales at 18.48-pounds. The anglers weight was
